Using the Silva Method to Lose Weight.

The Silva Method is a way to "program" your mind to get the results you want. It's a strong tool in the "how to lose weight quickly" arsenal.

A Mexican gentleman, Jose Silva, developed this method and made it public in 1966. Today's its available in over 30 languages in 111 countries. You may be able to find a live Silva workshop in your area. The web site lists trainers and locations. If that's not possible, you can order the Home Study course. Silva practitioners reach a deep meditational state producing alpha or theta brain waves. While in these deep levels of mind, you create "programs" to achieve the life you want. These "programs" can be anything you consider reasonable -- and your idea of what is reasonable may expand considerably as you discover the power of these Silva meditations.

My Weight Loss Programs

I created a program in which I stated I would achieve my weight goals quickly, easily and in a healthy manner. I would be interested only in healthy, nutritious food that my body required. I would be interested in this food only in the quantities necessary to reach and maintain my weight goals. I also created an exercise and fitness "program" to complement the eating program. The exercise program stated that I would pursue healthy activity and would enjoy my exercise routine.

The results? I reduced my weight by seventy pounds, and did it without feelings of craving and deprivation. I had minimal plateaus -- a situation that had challenged me considerably in previous weight loss attempts. Therefore, without the endless plateaus, the weight loss occurred faster than is typical for me. And, more importantly, I ate the foods I wanted -- because I had programmed my mind to want the kinds of foods that are good for me.

Other Benefits from the Silva Method

Weight management and habit control is only one of the many uses for the Silva Method. I experienced these other benefits as well:

1. Knee Injury Heals
A knee injury that had been rated as permanent by the medical profession, and which had responded only minimally to physiotherapy, healed by approximately 90%. I no longer need a knee brace and I can walk for miles without pain. Granted, the weight loss would have helped my knee, but remember this injury was considered permanent.

2. Sense of Smell Returns
A complete loss of smell, the result of a severe respiratory infection, had been diagnosed as permanent by an ear, nose and throat specialist. The sense of smell returned in one nostril, following several months of Silva Meditations.

3. High Cholesterol and Blood Sugar Levels Reduce Substantially
High cholesterol and elevated blood sugars, diagnosed as genetic and requiring medication to control, came down to their lowest level since the condition developed 15 years ago. Yes, losing weight and changing eating behaviors had an effect -- but keep in mind I had lost weight previously without having a positive impact on these readings. If my cholesterol levels remain low for a year, my physician plans to adjust my medications to a lower dosage.

4. Thinning Hair Restores
Thinning hair, a genetic condition afflicting the women in my family (according to the dermatologist), grew back without using Rogaine. I did some EFT tapping around this along with the Silva meditations. The hair grew back in response to the two therapeutic approaches combined.

5. Heat Sensitivity Disappears
An extreme heat sensivity that made it impossible for me to enjoy summer weather almost completely disappeared. This itself is a new lease on life since I can now go to the beach, play golf, go on tropical vacations and in general, enjoy the summertime like other people.

6. People Become Nicer
And finally -- I can't explain this, unless one accepts the spiritual side of meditation -- but after I had been meditating for a couple of months, I noticed that people were much nicer to me. I almost never received abusive emails any more (an unpleasant reality for people who make a living on the Internet), and I almost never encounter rude, hostile drivers whether I am a pedestrian or a motorist. I've read reports suggesting that meditation has a calming effect on the surrounding energy field, so perhaps that is the reason. I can't explain it. I can only say it happened, and its still happening.

Can you inagine the stress that goes along with receiving daily hate emails and facing seemingly endless road rage? That stress just isn't there any more, and I like it that way.

How Much Time Does This Take

How much of a time committment is the Silva Method? Perhaps twenty minutes a session, and as they say, "Once a day is good. Twice is better and three times is excellent." If you are using the meditations for a health issue, three times a day is recommended.

The good news is you learn a technique that puts you into the alpha state very quickly, and you can stay at that level despite noise or disturbances in the environmment. I do my Silva meditaitons while I'm on the treadmill, while I'm waiting for someone to show up, while I'm on the bus, or any other time that its convenient.

Some people tell me they don't have time to meditate. I reply that I don't have time to be sick.
